Inspiring Ideas

This month we are looking at Team Building events.

Here are our Top Ten Tips for organising a successful team building event:

1. Plan ahead to leave ample time for coordination with your venue and team building provider

2. Set a realistic budget to encompass the cost for the activity itself, field / room hire and refreshments

3. Choose a venue with an appropriate meeting room capacity / outdoor space for the type of activities you are interested in.

4. Select an experienced and professional team building company to provide the activity/ies

5. Gather key information to pass onto your team building company ie: the age range of your delegates, how long you have available for the activity and how many delegates you expect to attend etc

6. Set clear objectives on what you want to get out of the session ie: enhanced creativity, greater collaboration, increased motivation or better time management etc

7. Liaise closely with your team building company / management team to select an activity which fits your budget, encompasses your objectives, will appeal to your delegates and fits within your time restraints.

8. To get the most out of your team building session find out how many teams are required and split delegates into teams yourself. This will enable you to place delegates into your desired teams.

9. A few days prior to the event let delegates know the day’s agenda so they arrive promptly for the activities and pass on any specific clothing requirements ie: sturdy footwear / waterproof jackets etc. However, where possible, do not tell delegates what the activity is – it adds to the fun if you can keep the element of surprise…

10. Most importantly, ensure that on the day you bring your delegates together to have fun!!

We hope our top tips help to make your event a success and that you will benefit from your teams developed skills / improved relationships back in the workplace.
